There are so many advertisements on the new Tropicana Twister orange juice that contains real oranges in one litre with no preservatives whatsoever.
It sounded impressive at only RM5.79 per bottle at Carrefour and therefore I was so tempted to try one. It is certainly cheaper and much easier than to juice the orange juice yourself.
Looking at the label, it says added real orange pulp but didn’t state the number of oranges in one bottle. And the ingredients listed :
Water, sugar, orange pulp, orange juice concentrate, citric acid, sodium citrate, xanthan gum, flavour, arabic gum, potassium sorbate, ascorbic acid, vitamin e, cornstarch, vitamin a & beta carotene, permitted food conditioner, flavouring, and preservative.
The taste? Ewww.. way too sweet and articial! That’ll be the first and last bottle that I am getting. I rather buy Marigold Peel Fresh!

If it’s real orange juice, why do they need to add sugar? Looking at the ingredients, they place sugar ahead of orange pulp and orange juice concentrate, so that tells you a lot! And they also put in permitted food conditioner, flavouring and preservatives - none of which is healthy! Better juice your own oranges - you can avoid those preservatives and sugar! But why drink orange juice in the first place? Better still to eat the orange fruit as it contains fibres : )
