Many activities involved the use of our knees; squatting, walking, running, bending, going up/down the stairs, crossing legs and etc. But knees are also the most easily injured part of the body, more prominent among the female than male.

One of the most beneficial ‘maintenance’ exercises that we can do is climbing the stairs! Climbing the stairs require 3 joints which is the hip, knee and ankle, increase the oxygen consumption of our body and therefore increased of metabolism and help to build bone.

Stairs will help strengthen the muscles around your knee to eliminate future pain. Do you know that walking up the stairs, put pressure up to 4 times of your body weight to your knees? Running up the stairs will double the amount of pressure, which is eight times of the body weight! So, do avoid running up or down the stairs. Put your whole foot onto the higher step before climbing as it will place your foot and knee in better position when you climb up the stairs.

It is important to have proper footwear especially when you are walking on the hard surfaces.

Well, take good care of your knee as your daily activities will be very much affected if they are worn out!
