For all frequent flyers or keen budget travellers, I am sure it would be a wonderful news to hear that Air Asia is abolished fuel surcharges on all its flights starting from 11th November 2008.

The low cost carrier is the first carrier in the world to ever abolishing the fuel charges! Not only that, AirAsia Chief Executive Tony Fernandes announced that the region’s biggest budget carrier would also give out 500 000 free seats for domestic and international travel between June 22 to Oct 24, 2009!

Passengers only have to pay for the airport tax as well as the administration charges. This will make the total fare extremely low!

The abolishment of the fuel surcharge is possible due to the steep drop in fuel prices.

Well, isn’t that a great news? Do start planning for your travel next year!

Do you know, out of 1000 people in India, only 7 people own car? That is about 0.7% of the population owning a car!

For Indonesia, there is about 18 per 1000 and 57 for Thailand.

US has about 453 persons owning a car out of 1000 persons, which is a whopping 45.3%!

Germany, a country with many car manufacturers have up to 56.5% of the population owning their own car!

I do not know about Malaysia or Singapore. Do you have other stats?
